Almost a century ago, George Hearst, the heir to a newspaper empire, enlisted the services of architect Julia Morgan to transform his residence into a presidential-worthy abode. And the Western White House was born. That home is now for sale

Fun fact before the article: Julia Morgan, the architect in charge of designing the Western White House, blazed a trail of many female firsts. She was among the earliest women to pursue an engineering degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Furthermore, she was the first woman to conquer the entrance exam in architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, eventually becoming the institution's inaugural female graduate. Adding to her remarkable achievements, Julia Morgan became California's first licensed female architect.

The Western White House

One of the most luxurious real estate properties has just been listed on the market.

An iconic replicated version of the White House has emerged with a price tag of almost thirty-nine million dollars. The estate is listed under the Buljan Group at Compass and is on the market again after being sold approximately a year ago.

Situated in the Hillsborough area on almost three acres and listed for $38.9 million, this four-level Californian presidential estate, nicknamed the "Western White House," offers an expansive 24,350 sqft living space.

The estate has 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms (9 full and 5 half) and some phenomenal and familiar features. The Western White House includes reproductions of the Oval Office and the "East Room," which serves as an event space. The property also boasts an elevator, home theatre, wine cellar, two guest apartments, a gourmet kitchen, and separate family and fitness areas. Additional renovations, such as new appliances and finishes, have been made throughout the property.

Outside, the grounds feature rose gardens, a sauna, a hot tub, and a massive swimming pool. The relaxing cabana is a great place to get ready for the water, and more features are found walking around the grounds outside.
